The Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America (RPCNA) is a direct theological decendant of the Westminster Assembly of the mid 1600’s. We continue to hold fast to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Larger and Shorter Chatechisms, which are available at our denomination website, ReformedPresbyterian.org. Some key beliefs can be summarized as follows.
*God is sovereign over all things.
*Mankind is fallen in Adam’s sin, seperated from God, and unable to help himself.
*Jesus, God the Son, became human, perfectly kept God’s law, and died on the cross for the sins of all who would believe on Him.
*Jesus was raised from the dead the third day, and later ascended into heaven, sat down at the Father’s right hand, on David’s throne, an rules today.
*Salvation is a free gift of God’s GRACE-it can NOT be earned by being good!
*Even the act of believing is by God’s gracious power alone.
*Corporate worship on the Lord’s Day is the duty of all people. Worship should be pleasing to God, not entertaining to people.
*Worship is to be directed according to the “regulative principle”-whatever is not commanded in the Bible to be done in worship is forbidden. Thus, we sing Psalms acappella.
*We are Presbyterian in government: multiple elders lead each congregation. Each regional congregation is connected to others in a Presbytery- a gathering of elders representing each congregation for the maintaining of order and mutual edification. Each Presbytery is connected to others by the Synod in similar fashion.
